24th July 2023: Cavan woman Kathleen Coleman could not believe her luck this week when she received an unexpected call to tell her that she was the winner of a brand new Nissan Qashqai e-POWER just weeks after test-driving the electrified car for the first time.

The grandmother from Baileborough was on bus to Wicklow with her husband Hugh on their way to visit their daughter Katrina and grandchildren Emma, Alex and Jack for a short holiday when the call came through from Navan Nissan.

“We got a call from Vincent Keville, the sales manager there. I could hardly hear him because of the bad signal on the bus, but I got the gist of it. It was such brilliant news. I couldn’t believe it.  It was just fantastic and we arrived into Wicklow with some great news to share,” Kathleen explained.

The national Nissan draw to win the Nissan Qashqai e-POWER was open to anyone who test-drove the car at a Nissan dealership before the 1st July last. Kathleen was entered into the draw after test-driving the car at Navan Nissan in early June.

“We’ve been customers at Navan Nissan for about 25 years. We ‘re only 20 miles from Navan so we like to go up for a day out and to take a look at the cars when we’re there. We change the car every two to three years and we were thinking of changing again so we dropped in for a look,” said Kathleen.

“We had a look at the new Nissan Qashqai e-POWER and thought it was lovely so we took it out for a test drive. Vincent, the sales manager, put us down for the draw after the test drive and I thought nothing of it after that. I was absolutely delighted to get the good news this week, it was a wonderful surprise,” she added.

The all-new Nissan Qashqai e-POWER allows drivers to enjoy all of the benefits of EV driving without ever having to plug in the car to recharge it. It takes hybrid driving to the next level and drives in electric mode 100% of the time.

What makes the Nissan e-POWER system unique is that the petrol engine is solely used to charge a battery that powers an electric motor to drive the wheels. It is the perfect solution for drivers who are not quite ready to make the move to a fully electric vehicle, but who want a car that drives likes an EV and that optimises fuel efficiency and lowers CO2 emissions.

“We have been driving Nissan cars for over 20 years and had a Nissan Qashqai petrol before we collected the new car. The Qashqai e-POWER is a wonderful car to drive. I’ve never driven an automatic before and I’m really impressed with it. It’s so comfortable and responsive and it drives like an electric car,” said Kathleen.

“My family are delighted for me. I have five children and 14 grandchildren and I’m from a family of 13 myself. I’m always on the go, picking up from schools, collecting from football and running here and there for one thing or another. I’m a granny taxi but I love doing it,” said Kathleen.

News that Kathleen had emerged as the winner of the national Nissan draw was also celebrated at Navan Nissan.

“We were thrilled to discover that Kathleen and Hugh had won. They have been great customers of ours for a long number of years and we were delighted to call with them with the good news that they had won the new Nissan Qashqai e-POWER,” said John Robinson, Dealer Principal at Navan Nissan.
