3rd April 2023: The all-new Nissan Qashqai e-POWER has shot to the top spot as the best-selling car in Ireland in March with its instant popularity underlining how the innovative e-POWER system has revolutionised hybrid driving.

The electrified crossover is proving to be a massive hit with drivers who want to enjoy the benefits of EV driving without ever having to plug in the car to recharge it.

Nissan dealerships have been inundated with test drive bookings since the car arrived in Ireland and almost everyone who has test driven the car has decided to make the switch to Nissan e-POWER driving.

The Nissan Qashqai has been a family favourite since Nissan invented the crossover in 2007 and the arrival of e-POWER has catapulted it straight back to the number one spot with 742 new buyers snapping up the car in March alone.

“The Qashqai e-POWER takes hybrid driving to a new level. Test drivers love how it drives just like an EV and how responsive and quiet it is,” said Seamus Morgan, Managing Director of Nissan Ireland.

“The number one reason why test drivers are deciding to buy the car is down to the fact that it drives in electric mode 100% of the time. This is what sets it apart from any other hybrid on the market,” he added.

“Nissan e-POWER is a game-changer and we knew that it would shake up Ireland’s EV market. Test drivers are very excited by the technology and have been quick to make the switch. We anticipated this positive response and we are well stocked to meet demand,” he continued.

Nissan’s e-POWER technology offers a unique solution to drivers who are not quite ready to make the move to a fully electric vehicle, but who want a spacious family car that drives like an EV, that optimises fuel efficiency and that lowers CO2 emissions.

The unique element of Nissan’s e-POWER system is that the petrol engine is solely used to charge a battery that powers an electric motor to drive the wheels. The pure electric motor is the sole source of power, enabling the car to drive in electric mode 100% of the time.

It provides a very responsive driving experience that is incredibly similar to driving a fully electric vehicle, without having to think about range or recharging the car. It enables drivers to be eco-minded, to be sustainable and to optimise fuel efficiency without ever having to compromise on driving pleasure.

The Nissan Qashqai e-POWER is also proving popular with drivers who would like to transition to a full EV in the future, but who are put off doing so right now because they cannot recharge wherever they live or work, or because they are not yet ready to make the move to full electric.

Nissan now offers a full range of electric, hybrid, and mild hybrid vehicles that allow drivers to find the car that is right for them, wherever they sit on their journey towards 100% electric driving.

The all-new Nissan Qashqai e-POWER is packed with technology and innovative safety features. It has been designed to meet the needs of tech-savvy customers and to be a partner in an increasingly connected world, offering seamless, personal assistance and responses. e-Pedal also allows drivers to accelerate and decelerate using only the accelerator.

Pricing for the Nissan Qashqai e-POWER starts at €42,500. Customers can a book test drive and register their interest in ordering the car at their local Nissan dealership and can also find out more by visiting www.nissan.ie.
